DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOCHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Sree Buddha College of Engineering
is organizing a National Seminar on ‘MOLECULAR MEDICINE‘ at the college premises on 2nd,September 2008.
‘MOLECULAR MEDICINE‘ is a branch of biotechnology which finds extensive application in human health. It is a new scientific discipline that studies the manipulation of genes and the subsequent effect on genetic diseases.
It develops ways to diagnose and treat diseases by understanding the way genes, molecules and cellular functions become abnormal.
Advances in molecular and cell biology have enormous potential for medical research and practice. So far, they have been successfully exploited for determining the causes of diseases and controlling.
The recombinant DNA technology and modern cell biology will find applications in almost every branch of medical practice. It is revolutionizing cancer research, offers new approaches to vaccines, has spawned a biotechnology industry that is already producing a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic agents and in the longer term, promises to play a major role in classifying the causes of some of the unsolved mysteries of modern medicine:Cardiovascular diseases, neuronal diseases, infectious diseases and many others.
Dr.Gauranga Mukhopadhyaya,Professor,Special Centre for Molecular Medicine,Jawaharlal Nehru University,New Delhi will inaugurate the seminar.
Dr.Rajesh K.Tyagi,Chairperson,Special Centre for Molecular Medicine,Jawaharlal Nehru University, will deliver the keynote address.
Your gracious presence is solicited.
