This is really a good initiative from microsoft. Students can really benefit from it. You guys can also try some of the freely available Linux flavours like ubuntu, centos etc. Even the android platform provided by google is cool to play with.
Working with these packages will definitely help to narrow the gap between the theorotical and practical concepts……
