Why do people compare Apples and Oranges ? by Praseed Pai
Most Software companies in Kerala has got a shallow hierarchy and emphasis is on technical aspects of Software engineering. People who started their career and stayed back are mostly satisfied lot. In Contrast , Companies from Bangalore , Chennai and Hyderabad are build with scale in mind. Their emphasis is on Business Continuity. By reducing so called “Unit of Work Per Employee”, they reduce risks in operations. Both set has got their own world views shaped by their respective context. The session talks about the impedance mismatch between a Metro Software professional and a Kerala Software professional.

I would like to discuss the future of Internet Radio in India, as a media that reaches to common man. Also, I would like to present the experimental technology we have been developing for RadioCloud.

Public Relations – Let the world know about you
by Richy D Alexander
We often get asked what is a successful public relations program? What does it cost? How long do I need to do it? Why do my competitors always get in the papers? A public relations (PR) strategy may play a key role in an organization’s promotional strategy. A planned approach to leveraging public relations opportunities can be just as important as advertising and sales promotions. Public relations is one of the most effective methods to communicate and relate to the market. It is powerful and, once things are in motion, it is the most cost effective of all promotional activities. The success of well executed PR plans can be seen through several organizations that have made it a central focus of their promotional strategy. Lets share the idea of a successful PR See you on May 8th.

SOCIOPRENEUR 2011

16 Feb 2011

After sixty three years of independence, India today boasts of an inspiring growth story. A nation famous for its ancient civilization, culture and heritage, it has taken us years of toil and struggle to script our present. But this new destination-in-demand for big business still features a society plagued with illnesses. Our inability to overcome the age-old issues of inadequate infrastructure, poverty, illiteracy and widespread economic disparity represents our greatest failure post-independence.
Why look towards the government and the bureaucracy when the transformation can begin at home? By overlooking our own capacities as harbingers of change and prosperity for the downtrodden in society, do we not sell ourselves short? Does not the new generation of citizens in the world’s most youthful nation possess the transformative power and vigour to re-shape society, and chart its own course to a brighter destiny?
WELCOME TO SOCIOPRENEUR 2011!
SOCIOPRENEUR is an annual event conducted by the E-Cell of Model Engineering College, Kochi and Young Indians (Yi) Net MEC. True to its tag “Think Different for A Change”, Sociopreneur recognizes the potential inherent in budding young entrepreneurs to mould the future of this country, and inspires them to utilize their creative and business acumen to create social ventures targeting any one or more of the several shortcomings of modern society. The event requires you to create a Business Plan, which when executed can and will create a social change/impact for the good. Participants from across Kerala, and indeed, across the whole of South India shall present their blueprints for the India they envision, and the work to be done to attain it! The winning team takes over Rs. 30,000 as cash prize as an incentive to bring their ideas to fruition and help Be the Change!
India awaits its next generation of visionaries! Will YOU answer its call?
The online phase of the competition concludes on February 18th, 2011.
Send in your entries to sociopreneur@technopreneur.in

International students who come here for graduate studies find themselves in a totally different environment than they are used to back in their home country. Here is a comprehensive list of what you need to know when you come for graduate studies in US.

Assignment: Once a semester starts, a graduate student shall be doing at least one assignment a week. Most of the assignments may not be that easy as your undergraduate assignments back in your home country. Again if one starts working on it just the day before the submission, one may not finish it in time. For most of the courses, assignment plays a big role in the overall grades.
