(2 votes, average: 3.00 out of 5)The association of the Department of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering (BUDS) conducted its inaugural ceremony –“ ENVIO 2K11” for the academic year 2011-’12 “on 7th July 2011 from 9:30 am at the college auditorium. Students from all semesters of BT&BCE, CE-S7 and faculty members were a part of the ceremony. Dr.Seema Nair.P, HOD of BT &BCE welcomed the gathering and Dr. Somi Sebastian, Principal SBCE delivered the presidential address. The distinguished chief guest for the day, Prof (Dr.) T.R.Sreekrishnan; IIT, Delhi inaugurated the function by Lighting the lamp. Prof. Sreekrishnan also presented the Keynote address followed by a talk on ‘Sustainable Development through Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering’. Prof.N.Ramachandran from the Dept. of BT&BCE felicitated the occasion. Ms. Hajira Haneef (President,BUDS) delivered the vote of thanks. The second session of the event began at 11 am with a seminar on “Biotechnology for Environmental Protection” by the chief guest wherein the different methods of waste removal from various process industries were explained. The talk was enlightening to the audience as the modern aspects of effluent treatment and solid waste processing was explained. The event was brightened as the Medico venturus scholarship award was presented to Sruthi Chandran(BT&BCE – S7) and the best outgoing student award was given to Chaithra.G (BT&BCE 2011 passed out). A talk on the research papers by Prof. Sreekrishnan for the M.Tech students and faculty members of BT&BCE was also held during the afternoon session.

The gathering was welcomed by Mr.R.Pradeep Kumar. (NSS Program Coordinator,SBCE). Mr.Riji.N.Das(Faculty,CS) felicitated the occasion. A talk on the preventive measures of Drug and Alcoholism addiction was given by Dr.L.R.Madhujan, Clinical Psychologist.

The Sree Buddha College of Engineering has once again entered into the new academic year, with lot of expectations and choices. This academic year commenced on 15th June 2011 marking the beginning of yet another voyage through all those bitter and sweet experiences that college life can offer us. We whole heartedly welcome all SBCE ians especially the first years who are yet to join us and wish you all a wonderful year filled with joy and success. We would also like to remind our final years that this is the only year that you can bear the official tags of SBCE. So do your best and enjoy to the fullest and may you all reach greater heights in the future.
