The campaign carries the message – switch off lights for 9 minutes at 9 p.m. on the 9th day of the 9th month on the 9th year of the millennium. The aim of the 99999 Lights Out Campaign is to combat Global warming, to make people more conscious about the environment, to motivate people to reduce their respective carbon footprint, to mitigate climate change and to teach people Adaptation and Disaster Preparedness techniques.
