Also, like previous versions, it has a firewall, intrusion protection, e-mail protection and Web protection. It integrates with your browser and search engine to warn you away from visiting sites that might be malicious.
The suite, despite its hefty feature set, does not take up a good deal of RAM or system resources. It’s unlikely that you’ll even notice it’s running, a welcome change compared to several versions ago when it bogged down your system.

Installation:
Norton AntiVirus 2010 quickly installs in only 54 seconds and requires no system reboots. With its Download Manager and Installation Wizard, Norton is now one of the easiest Anti Virus programs to install. Long gone are the days when Norton used to take 20+ minutes to install and required multiple reboots to install (4-5 years ago).

New Features:

    • Norton Download Insight, File Insight, Threat Insight, System Insight,
and Norton Insight Network
• SONAR™ 2 Behavioral Protection

Performance Testing:
• Memory Use: Norton 2010 uses only 11.7 MB of system memory. #3 rated of the 10 Antivirus programs tested.

• Reboot Time: Norton added only 6.9 seconds to our test computer’s reboot time. #1 rated of the 10 Antivirus programs tested.

• Installation Size: Norton Antivirus 2010 takes 153 MB of hard-drive space for installation. #4 rated of the 10 Antivirus programs tested.

• Application Launch Time: Norton added 0.122s on average to launch a web browser. This was the #5 rated program tested, and Norton’s worst ranking in our Antivirus testing.
#1 rated of the 10 Antivirus programs tested.

Like my previous post, this one is also a copy paste from my blog, bcoz I thought I should post it here so as to share my experience with you.

Yesterday, I had participated in a short film making competition at YCET, Kollam. Let me tell you two important lessons I learnt.

Lesson 1 in Film Making – Making a film shouldn’t be a race against time.

Lesson 2 in Film Making – You should make a film because you want to make it, not because the film has to be made.

Everything began badly with the camera with which we were to shoot being unavailable. I somehow managed to get hold of a handycam just in time. The theme for the film was ‘Melody Of Youth’ (which none of us could figure out what the organisers meant by this) which was given minutes before the competition began. Constraints were the 5 minute duration and a work time of 4 hours. We shot the movie, edited it but couldn’t dub it properly even after getting the time duration of the competition extended by a couple of hours. I have a confession to make that the film we made was a rip off of another short film made by our seniors.

We didn’t win any prize, but the lesson I learnt was very valuable. Many of our competitors had pre filmed shots as they had guessed the theme would be campus related. But we shot the whole film (5 mins 30 secs approx) then and there. We enjoyed filming it but the editing and dubbing was tedious as our tensions were running high as the time remaining was too little. This is the first competition our whole team attended and we did pretty well for our first attempt.
