The  question that constantly nags me  is what have i gained from the four years at college?This might not be a surprise question because i know that majority are with me in that.So; this is the account of my quest for its answer which started off  at the moment i began typing this out.

Four years!It passed so quickly by; i hardly can forget each and every second of it.It was an experience that taught me what i should be and what i should not be. Fortunately or unfortunately; the latter list is the longest.I learned that it is hard to be what i am; because everywhere people are more concerned about how bad others are than of oneself. So unless one develops a very tough skin(get it patented first to avoid further troubles!!); it is difficult to be oneself.Hmm..“Past experience, if not forgotten, is a guide to the future.”

My first gain is the hoard of lessons i learned((of course,not from the books)).Its indeed a gain after the series of losses that incurred.

Friends??????Can they be accounted in my balance sheet of college??Its a bewildering question; considering how easily the thousand names in my friends list at the end of first year have shrunk to a handful by the end of fourth year. Its disheartening,because one realises very late the genuineness of the people around us.

“One may have friends all over the world, but very few will truly know your heart.”This was the greatest realisation; i ever had. The art of dealing with human character and thoughts is hard to learn. What makes it even more hard is that all are trying to live up to William Shakespeare’s words(in the wrong way).

“All the world’s a stage,And all the men and women merely players:They have their exits and their entrances;And one man in his time plays many parts,” The only problem is that all are trying to play the many parts at the same time. Alas; there are no Oscars for that bit of finest acting.

All the above beating around the bush; finally leads me to the conclusion that my second gain is the few but trustworthy friends that i have amassed.When everything around me had gone wrong, more than once; i had my friends((my guardian angels)) who constantly reminded that they were there for me.“When people are true friends, even shared water tastes sweet.” Some one very wise has written the above quote. In my case, i would like to add that the single bar of chocolate we have shared together in between classes were the sweetest!!

The third gain is the memories that i have; the bitter and the sweet!!Though at times i feel that life(or some people??) is unkind; i cannot ignore the memories that are enriching me. Memories are priceless; they have the magic to keep us alive on the dullest of days and to make us sad on the happiest days. How can i forget our trekking and expedition days from Pattoor to college; the classes when all are in their own worlds; the silly but funny games we have played….memories are countless!!  Its a treasure that is not trade -able. I cling on to it and will continue doing so!!

I guess i am lucky indeed to be with ,this many gains!!The list is not complete and never will it, but for the time being, these three make me a billionaire!!Let not my words nor my memories fade away; because without these; i am incomplete!!

All the alumni are invited to this wonderful day to rejoice and revive those wonderful days @sbce.

Look friends, how beautiful our India is! Wow…I m proud of being a part of this ancient culture as like you…I cant go on telling u about the geographical features since I hate it right from my school days.

But one thing is clear for me today; that I should tell u something which is very urgent…this 26th is our republic day, right?

But I am kind of disappointed if you ask me…you know why???? Because the system designed by veterans like Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, Dr.S.Radhakrishnan and several others, is not on the right track

Like the struggling American economy, our rich and varied culture is on the way of complete collapse…Is this we want, after years of struggles and battles against the invaders? Are we supposed to lose the control over ourselves? Why can’t we make our dreams fulfilled? We are already late, my pal…why could we wait for another 10 or 15 years to meet our basic needs like

1. A sustainable economy

2. Eradication of poverty and illiteracy

3. Population control

4. A clean and fair administrative system

What went wrong? Can anybody point out? Ours were the best since the time immemorial… everything changed uncomfortably since we blindly followed the west without knowing the underlying traps…

Curses everywhere…in the form of conspiracy, piracy, corruption, terrorism, regionalism, fundamentalism….god, I’m ashamed of listing all those things.

So, what we need in this situation is a group of young civilians, who are well aware of their duties…

Be educated yourself in good politics…we people hate politics usually, why? Is it because of the thought that MNC’s hate IndiaJ? All because of the unending strikes and labor problems .Yes… it is a fact… that is why you want to go abroad and accelerate the brain drain, right?(now what happens in an alien country? Think…you are black, south Asian, and may be under the tag “terrorist”)…

Friends ,let your wisdom think about the country men… we are blessed to eat three or five times a day, upgrade our gadgets , do whatever we want and get whatever we see…

There are still millions of those struggling kind…. Think what you can do for them… realize the fact that your ultimate joy stands for the welfare of the entire nation…

I am not sure if my words could change you guys…it’s always better to take actions than remain silent…

Well…
