hi guys and gals

Most of us are going to the polling booth for the first time this April 16. our nation the great INDIA is the biggest democracy in the world (china the biggest populated nation is communist nation). I used to get thrilled when my parents went for voting in my child hood. Myself and my friends eagerly waited for that big day to come when we can vote. But recently when i was with my friends, v talked a about the same voting process. half of them didn’t want to vote, some others don’t kw whom to vote and some others didn’t kw why to vote. i was disappointed on hearing this. v call ourselves men and women, v cry out for our freedom and rights, v say v r responsible citizens of India and patriotic so on so fore, but v are note ready or v dnt kw y to make this small contribution that decides our motherlands future, our future, the future of generations to come.

its on ur finger tip, who to rule you

Friends let me tell u one thing, the democracy and the right to choose our own government is the greatest of all rights granted to us by our constitution. many countries and more than half of the world population doesnt have this right. our democracy is 60 years old its mature enough now and now its our turn to unleash the true value and power of democracy. v all call foul on the political parties and most of the youngsters say that all parties are equally corrupted and equally worse and so whom to vote to power, our one vote cnt make any change is what many of the youngsters believe. recent elections we have seen if the voting percentage is more the actual gap between the winning and loosing party is small. so the election will b tight only if the votes are more, if the participation of the citizen is more. v have seen some not so good MP’s & MLA’s getting voted to power just becos the voting percentage was less.

Recent surveys has shown that in constituencies with equally bad candidates of major parties geting voted to powers is just bcos of poor voting percentage. this is bcos the people think that both are equally bad and sme if they vote or not some one among them wil only get elected then y shud i waste my time and energy going to vote? this mentality has to b changed bcos if v dnt vote for wat ever reason its indirectly two vote for the winner(bcos that one vote that u dnt vote shoud have gone to the opponent, ie u are not only reducing one vote of the opponent but also reducing one vote less to climp for the winner).

waiting to make a change for the nation and for us uning our finger tip

then another thing is the ignorance about the Indian politcs. there are frinds among us who dosnt kw the candidates in there constituency or not even knowing which constituency they belong. its very poor of those friends. just check out urself. these has to b made by oneself. any way i wil try to put history and other details of the political parties and the candidates of the Kerala and nation wide in the posts to come. i think that can help u to make the rigt deciton why, and for whom to vote. vote for the Nation first then vote for ourself.

Each of your Vote is Valuble for the future of our mother land INDIA. so Vote and b a part of constructin the new secure, secular, phosporous, developed INDIA. So vote and b a dutiful and true patriotic citizen of INDAI. Jai Hind

Hi All SBCEians… It is Vishal here from the EC02 batch. I just wanted to share with you all some of the latest trends in IT.

As most of you know, the recession in US combined with depreciating Rupee value is giving sleepless nights to the CEOs of both Indian and international IT companies. The profit margin for indian IT companies is decreasing and the cost of operation shooting up. India is loosing its ranking as the favourite destination for “IT Outsourcing” to countries like srilanka, philippines, vietnam etc.

IT majors like IBM,Yahoo,Siemens,Texas Instruments and a host of top tier indian IT companies are giving pink slips to their employees or cutting the salaries in a bid to have the profit margins on the up side. And with US presidential hopefuls like Barack Obama strongly against Outsourcing, the future of indian IT industry doesn’t look very bright.

Ok, having said all these I am not trying to intimidate you guys. I am just putting forward some plain truth about the IT industry. Indian IT industry has come a long way and a complete washout is near to impossible!!! Whatever the world market statistics be, the indian IT industry is going to stay.. We will still be developing softwares and powering the machines around the world. The only thing is it is going to be a tough competition from now on..

So what does the IT slowdown implies to all the students of SBCE ???……………………………………………… It implies that getting in to a good IT company is going to be even more “harder” because the companies are cutting down their recruitments by almost 30-50 %.Then what can be done from your part to survive ????

Some suggestions from me would be :

1. Be rock solid on your technical knowledge in whatever stream you are like CS,IT,EC,Mech,BT,Electrical etc.. and prepare well for the tests. Soft skills also holds a very important role……………………….During the time we were passing out, the IT companies used to take truck loads of students and that also with a plum salary. We had a long list of recruitment drives in kerala to attend. Getting in to an IT company in those days was lot more easier compared to present scenario. But now the companies seems to be much more choosy. The tests are harder and more painful.

What I want to communicate with you all is to be strong in the technical areas. Even after getting into the company, it is the non-technical guys or the non-performers who face the axe. By being technically sound you guys can jump to better companies even if the present one looks lousy!!

2. It is always better to have 2-3 offer letetrs rather than a single!!

I have read and noticed that a lot of IT companies are INDEFINITELY delaying the joining dates of the candidates to some future dates due to the slowdown. This means that even though you have got an offer letter from an IT company, you can’t still be sure that they will definitely call you. So better to have 2-3 offer letters in your hand, so that if one doesn’t give you a joining date you can still join the other company.

3. One more thing is to “Look Beyond IT”.

It is time to look beyond IT. There was a time when mechanical engineers, civil engineers, chemical engineers etc & etc used to be the front runners for securing an IT job. The explanation of choosing IT field to core engineering field was the fat pay package offered by the IT companies compared to the traditional engineering companies. But now I think it is time to rethink over this approach. There are lot of core engineering fields like automotive, mechanical, electronics, communication etc, which generates a lot of job oppurtunities and are more or less immune to the global financial turbulence. And morever they are also now giving handsome pay packages .

4. Start your own company.

—- “It is time to not go to work. It is time to get people to work for you”. May be this might not be practical to all of you, but for some it may!!! Come On!!, who knows one of you will be building the next “Infosys” or “Wipro” or “Reliance” or “Google” or “Microsoft”… The list will go on and on and on…

Regards,

Vishal

Hi guys and gals. Today I thought of sharing my experience in tech fest I attended in Yonus College of Engineering. By this I would like to encourage my juniors to participate in these fests. First of all let me tell u how I came to this field. Me and Sujith(my partner in quiz) had the first chance or had the first taste of campus fest was from the quiz organized by our then BT super seniors. Their v had a tough competition and won the second prize defeating all other even our seniors. From their on v started to attend all possible tech fests inside and outside our campus. At first we participated only in quiz and v didn’t even pass the prelims. After 2-3 prelims v where sad and thought v r not worthy of competing in college level but we still kept on participating and the first break through came on TKM college we made it to finals. That was like conquering the Everest for us and it did boost our moral. Then on we began to participate in other events also. But still winning a prize was far away. Then in 3ed sem v got our first prize a ‘third in maths quiz at Bishop Moore College’. Then on ward v had several successes as a team as well as individuals in many events and fests. we had seen many guys especially from CET and TKM making clean sweep in these fests and we could just manage some prize here and their. It was a dream for me to make a clean sweep like that I thought v cud do that in last year.
Now let me tell u the fest Eunike Fiesta 08 conducted by EC department of Yonus College. For several reasons I couldn’t participate in fests for last 6 months. Then me and Sujith decided to take part in this. We where all set to go and conquer Yonus College. But due to some reasons Sujith couldn’t come. So I had to go alone but I really hate to go alone but I decided to go. The college is situated in out-skirts of Kollam city. The infrastructure of the college is not as much as ours is but the college doesn’t lack anything, they have good basket ball and volley ball court which made me envy as our college ground is 6months land and 6months ‘punja’. But I told to myself they dnt have water sport facility as v do . The college atmosphere was good and student where very friendly. First it was paper presentation. I was nt sure whether I could attend it as I didn’t sent my abstract on time. But I had conducted the co-ordinator Ashwin and he told he will try. So I actually didn’t prepare much for that as I was not sure of it. The paper was also my seminar so I was confident of it. Lucky 4 me I got the chance and I had to present as the first person. I was nt weel with the paper as I didn’t practice but I already took the seminar in college and with that strength I started off. I took the paper quite comfortably but the question answer session was bit tough. Although I answered I was not tat happy. I thought I won’t win anything and told myself that it was my first paper presentation and next time I can make it up. Then I went for quiz and best manager prelims. Quiz as Sujith was nt their I paired up with Krishna Kumar from CET. In quiz I dnt have luck but I made it up to finals in Best manager. By then Paper presentation result came and I got 2nd. I was so happy and thrilled. Then I went for BM finals. Apart from me 4 other finalist where there. One among them Sangeeth was a known to me. He was the favorite to win the BM and I had competed with him before but their he was first and me second. Here I was bit nervous as he was a tough competitor for me. Their were 3 rounds first was a mixture of self introduction and a mock press. I got Mr Narayana Murthy as my personality and I cud easily handle my mock press. Sangeeth to had a good mock press and he was more successful than me especially in winning the crowd. 2nd round was north-south that is v hv to speak 30sec for and 30sec against the topic and the topics will be the most weird ones. I spoke and frankly I still dnt know what was the topic. It was a normal show for me and him and all knew he was leading. The third round was product selling and I gt spctacles without lens. This time I could do a great one and could win the crowd and was really good but Sangeeth got the ‘pen that cant write’ unlucky for him and lucky for me he couldn’t do well in that and thus I became the BEST MANAGER. I was so exited that day. Night we had a show by club FM and a fashion show by students at night. It was a superb evening and I went home at night 1’o clock thinking when will such a evening happen in our college.

Day 2. on this day my friends Vineeth, Sibi, Azhar, Aniesh, Sreeraj, Varun, Mahesh, Nithin, Salim, Swetha and Sre Devi came for the fest to participate in short film making. as they where making the film I went for mock press. i got A P J Abdul Kalam as my personality. The question panel was bit rough and tough, Adarsh sir of that college who is a real genius was in the panel and he virtually nailed me in their. Here also I dnt hv any hope to win so after that I went to our gang to make the short film. The topic was Melody Of Youth. We really didn’t understand hat the organizers meant by it still v made a short film out of the theme of ‘room mates’. Our team was participating for the first time in this and lack of experience was really seen and only due to that v lost the prize. But our film was good and next time am sure our team will win the FIRST PRIZE. Then it was treasure hunt. Really that took a lot of me. We where provided a map and a clue using which we have to find the next clue. It was really tough to get my first clue which was took me more than 40 mins and I was the 5th person to get the clue out of 6 participants. The first clue was dug on the ground and a grass neatly planted over that. Hooo but from second clue onwards it was bit more easy and collecting all 8 clues I became the winner. I was really happy because I took more than 90 mins to find the eight clues and had to run a lot was really tough and I became more happy as all others could make it up to only 4-5 clues, night v had prize distribution ceremony followed by a ganamela by great play back singers and idea star singer fames.
I could win a lot of very good friends and the fest was really a superb and a hit. It was well organized and in all means it was enjoyable. I really appreciate the college and student and the organizing committee for such a grand event. Thus I could make one of my dreams true a clean sweep representing our college in a tech fest.
Now my advice and tips for the juniors.

1> Participate in as much fest u can. It will improve your confidence; u will get a nice exposure, experience, friends, contacts and some times a good pocket money.
2> failure is the step stone to success.
3> participation is greater than winning and after some participations u will surely improve and win.
4> these will help u greatly in your placements and future ventures.
U also try to organize competitions in college under respective associations or in ur class.

To the management I would ask to permit and encourage these fests both tech and cultural. It will increase our publicity and our reputation, I wish v cud start a club or something with the support of management to encourage our student and help them develop their talents.

when ever I saw the ad word, i felt like is it so? Can Idea change our life? Well I never think so. Most of you will disagree with me, but still I believe, Idea don’t have that much importance. I am talking from ma personal experience. I weave 100s of ideas every week and its just ideas…coz it never get its way out.

Lemme scrap some thing from my experience…………..

So many people weave ideas and they afraid to discuss it with their friends or Veterans. They do think that the other guy will steal their Ideas. So they keep that ideas with them and at last it will buried in the corner of their mind.

This is the greatest stupidity. You have to discuss about your ideas with friends and veterans, then only you will get it more vivid. When you discuss that idea with others, keep the core business in mind, just talk about the idea as a whole. From the other’s comments, you will get more and more views on the same. More and more sharing of ideas will make it strong. An idea is your own baby, you will never think about it negatively, but others do. And from those comments only you will get know the pros and cons of your baby.

Getting an idea is tough but the toughest part is implementing it in right time. An idea alone can’t be survived; it needs the right time and right money to start and definitely the right people in right environment.

If we have an idea and we don’t have time to implement it, then? That idea is waste

If we have an idea and we don’t have money to implement it, then? That idea is a big zero.

If we have an idea and we don’t have the manpower to execute it, then? It’s a dump idea.

If we have an idea and we don’t have the environment, then?????

Environment depends on various matters like geographical aspects, politics, rules and regulations, so on.

An idea is said to be successful if it is executed in time. For that we need

1. Right Resources including HR, infrastructure etc.
2. Right Time
3. Enough money

An idea, let it be a greatest of ever time. If it is implemented in wrong time, what use in that?

So an Idea alone cannot make a boom. An idea is just an idea till it gets right resources. Starting an HR company was something which came into my mind when I was in my 5th semester. My idea was a bit different. When I discusses it with Kala mam (Mrs. Kala Karun, Dept of Com Sci), Mam said its just waste. If it is a great idea, people will come with that idea. Later after ma degree, I consulted with another HR Director, Ms.Sabeena. She is working as a HR Director in Mumbai. When she heard that idea she said I have to apply that idea for patent.[;)] When I start ma company she will come with me and she waited 2 more months for me…But at that time only idea was with me. Later on I saw some great initiatives like brainbench, smartframe etc. Last year Ms.Sabeena called me and scold me a lot for not taking any initiative.

Then again “On Demand Computing:. The money tree of IBM. The most interesting fact is that Similar idea was presented by me to ZEE Business Plan contest when I was in ma third sem and I was selected from the prelims. But I cant attend the finals due to my supplementary exams. [;)] My parents didn’t allow me to go for that by dropping ma exams. [I afraid what will happened when they get know the number of exams I skipped…shhhhhhhhh……………..]

So what I have to tell you is

1. Never try to make all ideas urs, share it.
2. Remember, never share the core. [:)]
3. Making money and time is the biggest deal than making a flawless idea, coz the first two can clear the flaws sometime.

An idea alone cannot change your life.
