Many scientists have tried to use the cloning technique to bring back the extinct species like ,u noe, woolly mammoths. But unfortunately they had to throw in the towel..cos firstly, the DNA of these animals have degraded cos of the ice crystals and they cudnt isolate the live cells from the obtained fossils..
BUT the time has come for the resurrection from the permafrost…
recently ,scientists Teruhiko Wakayama at the RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology in Kobe and co-workers have successfully cloned a mice from cells that remained frozen for 16 yrs and that too at a temp below -20 °C . Isn’t tat amazing…
wen we hear bout cloning wats comes to our mind is “isolating the nucleus of live cells from an organism(endangered species or an research exp.) and introducing it into another cell whose nucleus has been already removed. And then this cell is introduced into a surrogate mother , giving birth to a healthy clone) well this is actually called somatic cell nuclear transfer(SCNT).
well these scientists performed SCNT for a mice cell that was frozen for a week.they found that frozen brain cells were the best donor cells and the clones produced were more healthier than that from a living cell.
The reason behind that is actually the sugars in the brain protect the cells from the damage caused due to freezing. Not only that this freezing condn unwinds the supercoiled structure of DNA molecule which allows the recipient egg to get access to the introduced genetic code bit easily.
Well the normal SCNT cudnt produce the clones from the 16 yrs frozen bodies. But they established an embryonic stem cell lines where they injected the cell into a host egg , introduced into a surrogate mother and successfully produced four mice clones.
brain cells r the best donor cell but we can even use blood cells which is easily available from skin or bones which is more likely to be found in the permafrost .
As i see it,this work is fantabulous . Cos its the first time cloning is done from a frozen cell and that too frozen for 16 yrs WOOOW…
That scientist is hopeful taht he cud produce clones of the ancient magnificent animals like mammoths…but he said that the cells mite be more damaged than the cells which r 16yrs frozen….
well if and only if the Dna is not damaged ,this can happen …wat if the ice had protect the cells of this gigantic creatures we can have our ICE AGE BAK……..
heheheheh ..im having an even more fantastic cruel idea of bringing the T-REX bak …..u noe it mite be adventurous…just think bout it T-REX chasing u ……….u r dashing………frustrated hahaha….

Being a BT student , ma first and foremost aim is to improve ma writing skills , after all i may need to authorize many science magazines in the future……. hahahaha

now that was a really nice one….why don’t u jus try out ur idea with manoj sir..uh?u know…probably he could explain the the practical essence in ur theory of bringing bak the mammoths….(y leave the trex out??)

I’d want to see Sid from Ice-Age cloned first!
Any takers?
Ruby, you in?
