This is the fourth book coming out from the shelves of CB (Chetan Bhagat). This guy has maintained his style of writing into this book. Quite a same story as seen in movies but a different approach and with the fact that both the families are stuffed with the wierdest of characters. I wonder how our hero & heroine came out well (perhaps ! gene mutation)

The story goes as dragging the name of the book into the pages. It’s the story of a boy and a girl and their families. In fact, its the story of two IIMA grads – a Punjabi boy and a Tamilian Brahmin girl and their families include a psycho mother, (straight from rono-dhona, saas-bahu soaps), completely ‘against the humanity’ father and all those fat colourful and fair aunties and uncles of Punjabi clan who give more preference to food and material wealth while checking out the girl’s side. This was the boy’s side.

Now, the girl’s side had an introvert father who never thought of anything else other than The Hindu newspaper and his ‘Bank of Baroda’ office, a wierdo mother who thinks of becoming a carnatic super singer and a nutecrack brother who was born in the world with the purpose of getting into IITs.

The story starts from IIM Mess where they both meet, fall in love and sex, get placements and joins different companies in the same city Chennai. The hero starts his mission of ‘getting liked by his inlaws’ by helping father-in-law on a presentation, taking tuitions for brother and arranging a music concert for mother-in-law.

Now, the heroine comes to Delhi and gets a command over the boy’s family by fixing a broken marriage.

Work half done.

Now, another mission is ‘family liking the other family’ which goes wrong and all hell break loose even to the extent of hero becoming a mini-devdas.

Again ‘the most whacko character’ – find out in story; comes into play and fixes everything.

The story is theek-thaak; It becomes extremely boring and unreadable at some point and after their IIM days, the story drags into a ‘soap opera’.

The whiskers and one-liners relating the Siuth-Indians are rocking and good relief.

Some situations are too out-of-the-box.

Chetan Bhagat has not let down us with his style of writing and those extra masalas into each situation and character. But the story lacks the strength to catch up with CB as the soap doesn’t go well with those going readers. Congrats CB for making an ordinary story into a book. It’s thru ……

Boy loves Girly & vice versa
Boy’s family loves girl & girl.s family loves boy
Boy’s family loves girl’s family & vice versa
Still if boy loves girl & vice versa, they get married.

Finally as a bollywood flick, all ends well with boy and girl getting married and helps in Uniting India.

Kiyosaki. I am pretty much amused by the thought of Mr. Kiyosaki, a renowned speaker, giving advice on making money. The book starts with two kids out on an adventurous sport of making money(though, great to find mere children thinking of making money!!!). The two children, coming from wealthy and poor families respectively, slowly describe the art of making money which they imbibe from the wealthy father. The story in itself is presented in a nice manner where most other books on such subjects are a kinda hurdle to step over. The path by which the story travels and the elements of piece-wise advice in quotes format are enjoyable for ardent financial position seekers. At least these points do not let us doze off while surfing it. Some capsule advices remain with us long after we have turned the last page.

Talking about the cons of the book, I find them everywhere in the entire pages. I could find rubbish the idea of making money on route of Mr. Kiyosaki(OK, certain advices could be taken for certain aspects in building our lives, but, not like copy pasting everything from the book into our life and we become rich; if life was like that, no one would have remained poor- hey… hey…hey…).There are many factual errors besides which there are certain sayings (by Mr. Tarkenton)provided which do not comply with the situation given. The story sometimes do not keep track of itself, where, it shows the college-goers are dumbs(under-we do not learn making money at colleges) and sometimes he recommends for tax evasion. The utter fact of ‘ the art of making money’ arouses a kind of uneasiness(how could that happen ? ) in my stomach when I unravel the pages. In all, I find the book very insane and of course boring with very poor advice on making money. An insane creation from Mr. Kiyosaki. I give 1.5 stars out of 5.

This is the most prominent question to be answered in a situation where nasty politics is being played in India. You have not remained an Indian in India. Either you are a North Indian or a South Indian. Or unless you come from Maharashtra where you aren’t sure whether you are a North Indian or a South Indian or a slice of both.

Raj Thackeray of MNS(Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) recently created rages in public and media by discriminating the North Indians staying in Maharashtra. Actually this was the same tactics(nasty politics) used by Bal Thackeray of Shiv Sena in the sixties to gain hold over the people of Maharashtra. The only difference being , he discriminated the South Indians staying in Maharashtra, accusing them as the reason for the lack of job oppurtunities for the Maharashtrians. Thus he could gain hold over the public by his divisive politics. While the crude parochialism of the Shiv Sena and MNS is known, what is lamented is that even all-India parties like Congress have not done anything to suppress the feeling of sub-nationalism. Even in the sixties, the Congress party was a mute spectator to the vandalism shown by Shiv Sena. In such a crunch situation of hue & cry, why is Vilasrao Deshmukh easing himself when his grip over the situation is loosening. Why is being unqualified support given to the police by R.R Patil(state’s home minister), which led to the lynching of a labourer from U.P & earlier shooting of a Bihari youth in Mumbai. This comes as a shocking deterioration in Mumbai’s law & order situation. These situations could be tackled in a better way without actually killing the Bihari youth, as he was just a distracted youth. If this could be seen as a reply to those whoever taking law in their hands, then such replies should be first meted out with Raj Thackeray’s goondas. Taking a real time analysis, the police & the anti social elements have brought disgrace to the city(tinsel town)which was once known for its cosmopolitan culture and the fault lies with the nasty politicians who do not mind playing games with the lives of innocent people in their actual quest for raw bloody power.

So what is all this going on in a sixty year old secular & democratic country ?. What has actually happened to our people, to us- who have actually taken arms against our own people on the dictations of myopic politicians ?. So when did creepy terms like ‘sub nationalism’ began cropping in our nation ?. Such a shameless act has propped up the question ” are we Indians in India ? “. So this is time to to sit & think with a cool head- against whom we have taken arms & on who’s advice and then to act. B’coz these shameless acts happen & leave a scar on India & the losers are not our god mans- ‘the politicians’, but the hapless victims of the resultant violence.

Let us hope the movies like”Deshdrohi” where the hero(from Bihar) actually opposes the dictations of MNS- fiss out the tension in Maharashtra.

The second meeting of Campus Blogging Club was conducted on 30th October,2008. The agenda of the meeting was to form sub-groups which would be taking care of the different sections in Vosree. Accordingly, different sub-groups were formed with a good number of members in each sub-group. The sub-groups were formed in different sections like Poems, Reviews(books, bikes, gadgets), Technical section, Let’s speak about, Thought of the week, Stories, Experiences(incidents). Many other sections were kept on hold and new ideas from the members were encouraged. Many new members did come for the first time for the meeting and many complained about the time of conduction of the meeting as it came at odd hours for them to actually join us. Care would be taken in fixing the dates from next meeting onwards. A good suggestion was put forward by one of the members about starting tutorials for photo shop and HTML. Encouraging the suggestion, Riji sir actually started a program of conducting seminar on photo shop. This would be taken by Jithin Babu(CS5) in the next meeting and would be carried on fortnightly. At the end of meeting, Varun(CS5) took a seminar on WordPress to impart some basics to us. Altogether it was a lively meeting.

Note: The names of new members will be added in the first post on campus blogging club meet.

The fixture of the next meeting will be posted here in Vosree. Members are requested to take note of this.

It was the most apt way in which Riji sir started his talk. He started with an humble approach. It was a very refreshing talk where he talked about the similarities in today’s web world when compared with public’s choice of trvel in train rather than bus on basis of travel fares. He also talked about the day when the concept of websites will be completely replced by blogs. He also discussed about the advantages and the future prospects of campus blogging. Another highlight was the job oppurtunities which propped up b’coz of campus blogs. New ideas like Intelligent Blogger were discussed. The talk was in very simple terms which could actually be understood by any person new to the blogging world. Praises were heaped on the bloggers for their creative and depth full articles by Riji sir. Altogether it was a very profound talk.
