Hip Hip Hurray….. India. We have done it this time one gold and 2 bronze in Olympics. An Olympic gold is the dream of 100crore people for decades and this time we have done it and of course 2 bronze which is worth mentioning as any Olympic medal is worth more than gold for us Indians. By this we could prove our presence in Olympics. Lot have changed of course professionalism in sports has gone up a lot. Foreign coaches, foreign training system everything has done a lot to Indian sports. Am stressing on Foreign because I don’t see any great change an the functioning of sports ministry or SAI(Sports Authority of India) or any other government machinery in sports but I do appreciate the work of many NGO’s and of course the effort put by individuals and their family.
We could see these entire medal winners had put a lot of invidual effort and had many time used a lot of money of their own to achieve this. These medals be it gold or bronze it has helped a lot for Indians and something to b proud of. For last 2-3 decades we have 2 sit calm and see smaller nations and even African nations ruined by poverty winning gold in events but not us. We were fed up of decisions critics, officials blaming each other for the bad performance. For us we always had to be satisfied by a last minute bronze or a silver but this time we could prove our presence from the beginning of Olympics.
But we still have many questions to be answered in our mind. Is this all what we Indians, a 100crore population which has the 6th largest economy can do? Is this all? Olympics with has more than 200 events in which we could just participate below 30 events. Is this all a 56 member contingent and an equal number of officials representing India, costing the tax payers a good amount could produce? We could see small contingent in Olympics but most of them went with medal in their kitty. What are we lacking? Money, infrastructure, talent or the WILL to utilize these? Where do we lack? Where do we need improvement? What has to be done? We have a lot of talent hunt in India singing, dancing, mimicking and a lot but none to find sports talent y?
What ever may be it let us keep aside all these and will think about it in next Olympics in London (2012). Let celebrate our three medals let us pour cores to these winners for now, let us all keep our eyes closed 2 other nations including our neighbor china and let us celebrate this as is we have achieved the maximum. For Indians still a BRONZE IS WORTH A GOLD.
With best wishes to all the 3 medal winners and all the Indian participants in olypics and wishing our self the very best in coming Olympics. Let us think for the betterment of sports till next Olympics. We would be happy as long as a gold, a silver or atleast a bronze will find way to India.

When India went to olympics everybody blames because of the absence of our hockey team . some people says that India has no role in this olympics . But the three people rewrite the scenario.
This year should be a glittering one in the history of Indian olympics

prashanth u r right. indian hokey team which was our pride and other nations worst nightmare in olympics is nt doing good for long. our national game is not even popular alounng our youth. all indians know indian cricket team captian and its members, bt how many kw our hokey teams captian or atleast a member. even media dsnt gv much importance to hockey. when al media gv flash news and graet coverage 2 indian cricket team selection and its members hardly any media gv name of indian hockey team members. i too find it difficult sometimes 2 keep the names of presnt hockey team. still v can hope for better

HI,
This is a well written article. Just as krishnaraj is saying, this is one of the most highlighting events in the history of modern India. I think , taking this as an inspiration more Indians will come into the sports arena and may be more sponsors will come forward to support them.
Proud to be Indian – Gopu

lets hope our Olympic success will start a gold rush….
but, tell me when Indian participants go to the big meets, usually we console ourselves by saying that we believe in the Olympic motto: playing is the thing, winning or losing doesn’t matter.
that has 2 change and lets help in all ways we can(it might be very smal when we think but spoons of water can also make a bucket full) for making our country proud in athletics and sports …..
just think dear bros/sis wen other countries like china america needs a van 2 tak over their medals …v the indians just need a box 2 take theirs….isnt it a fact…
its true 2 tht its time 4 us 2 feel happy and proud of our nation…………
